C-section Awareness Month!

April is Cesarean Awareness Month.

Why do we need to spread C-section awareness?

A few reasons.. but C-sections is currently at an all time high and it keeps rising.. with an Australian wide rate of 35%. So more than 1 in 3 mothers give birth by Cesarean.

There is also a huge difference between private/public rate. In QLD, a whooping 50% of mothers in private care have a C-section vs 28.9% in public care.

Of these c-sections, 42.5% were repeat C-sections (which means the mother has had a C-section before)

and 57.5% were primary C-sections (meaning the mother hasn't given birth by c-section before)

AND JUST BECAUSE IT IS THE MOST COMMON SURGERY AROUND THE WORLD, DOESNT MEAN IT IS EASY. IT IS IN FACT, SO SO HARD.
